Fellow Airsofters:
I am apprehensive to use this forum to further my agenda but I think this is the only way to specifically convey my message to my target audience.
For those who do not know the identity behind the call sign, allow me to introduce myself..I am Cong. Ruffy Biazon from Muntinlupa City. I have been an airsofter since the mid-1980s up to this day. I still play whenever my official schedule as member of the House of Representatives allows. I own several airsoft guns and am a founding member of one Team Airsoft-IPMS-Manila (AIM).
I am running for a seat in the Senate this May 10, 2010 elections and I am seeking the support of all airsofters nationwide.
What do I have to offer as a basis for your support? For one, I have a legislative agenda for airsoft. In Congress, I filed a bill seeking to legalize airsoft/replica guns through a bill proposing to repeal LOI 1264. Unfortunately for us, not enough support was generated among congressmen to have it passed into law.
When one of my colleagues, Cong. Rufus Rodriguez filed a bill specifically banning airsoft, I fought his bill and we debated in one of the committee hearings held for the purpose of considering his proposal. He eventually backed off when he met stiff resistance from myself and the various airsoft groups led by Atty Tabujara.
I also voted against the proposed new firearms code which sought to include airsoft in the definition of "Firearms". During the discussions on the PNP's Memorandum concerning airsoft, I stood for a more liberal rule for airsoft.
My ultimate goal is for full legalization of airsoft free from any kind of rule or regulation except self-regulation by airsofters themselves. If elected to the senate, it will form part of my legislative agenda since I know the benefits of the sport/hobby and am personally involved in it.
While in the recent debates in the Senate my father seemed to have taken a stance which was contrary to the position taken by Pro-Gun groups, we are two different persons and have our own points of view as well as legislative agendas. My position on issues are entirely independent from his.
I seek the help and support of all airsofters nationwide and would like to organize a support group composed of the different airsoft clubs all over the country. Those who are interested to help may visit my website at www.ruffybiazon.ph for contact details or get in touch with me through my Facebook account. I also have a Fan Page in Facebook titled Airsofters for Ruffy Biazon.
My apologies to the admins if this message is out of place.
Thank you very much!
